SPUC launches the Mayisha campaign for genuine maternal healthcare

SPUC has launched a new campaign called Mayisha, which means "life" in Kiswahili. Mayisha:
  • supports and campaigns for good and ethical maternal healthcare in developing countries
  • challenges the Department for International Development to adopt ethical policies regarding maternal health
  • condemns attempts to hijack maternal health to impose abortion on developing countries rather than deal with the real problems facing mothers.

"We held the first of 12 demonstrations around London today, encouraging members of the public to join our campaign for ethical maternal health care. The team held a banner, handed out hundreds of leaflets and talked with passers-by about maternal health care and abortion. We received a lot of supportive feedback and encouragement, as well as having a few arguments. Well done to the team for braving the hottest day of the year so far to spread the word."
